Police Charge Four Teens in Home Burglary

Police alerted to alleged break-in by alert neighbor.

Four Merrimack teens were arrested Saturday afternoon for breaking into a home on Old Blood Road, a crime say they were alerted to when a resident reported seeing smoke coming from the home.

Police say it was not smoke, the resident saw but the remains of a fire extinguisher that had been used. When police arrived at the home around 12:40 p.m. Saturday, it appeared entry had been forced into the home and police say they found 17-year-old Daniel Roussel, of 27 Beacon Drive, inside the house. They also located Kyle Witzenbocker, 17, of 9 Acacia St., in the immediate area.

Further search of the area turned up Nathan Mercier, 17, of 7 Dwyer St., and Nicholas Snow, 17, of 176 Amherst Road, hiding behind a large tree in the woods.

All four teens were charged with burglary in the incident. Witzenbocker was also charged with criminal liability to burglary and possession of marijuana, Mercier and Snow also face charges of resisiting arrest for refusing to come out of hiding from the woods and Snow was also charged with possession of marijuana.

Witzenbocker and Snow were each released on $1,500 personal recognizance bail, Mercier was released on $1,000 PR bail and Roussel on $750 PR bail and all four are ordered to appear in Merrimack's district court on May 15 to answer to the charges.
