Police Issue Snow Removal Scam Warning

An elderly man was recently targeted by individuals offering to shovel snow from his roof.

The Merrimack Police Department has issued a warning about a snow removal scam that happened recently to an elderly resident in Massachusetts, according to an alert on Facebook.

The man was approached by a group of individuals who offered to remove snow from the roof of his home for $100 an hour.

After two hours, one of the shovelers wrote a bill for $1,800. The homeowner questioned the bill and stated that he was going to call police. However, the individuals convinced him to pay $500 for the $200 job.

“If someone approaches you to complete a snow removal job, do your homework first, obtain a written quote and if you have any questions about the them, call us to help you verify they are legitimate,” police warned. “Don’t become a victim of these criminals!”
