According to the department's press release, Trooper J. DeJesus responded to a report of a rollover crash at 11:15 near Exit 13 northbound. He found the vehicle rolled on its side. The driver had been thrown from the vehicle and landed in front of the car.

The Merrimack Fire Department and emergency medical services also responded.

Tracey initially was taken to Catholic Medical Center Hospital in Manchester. He later was transferred to Mass General in Boston.

Sgt. B. Viglione, of the New Hampshire State Police Troop B, said the accident is still under investigation and anyone with information should contact Trooper DeJesus at the 603-223-8492 or at the Troop B barracks. The preliminary investigation indicates Tracey lost control of the car and hit the sound barrier just before Exit 13, police said. At that point, the car began to roll over and Tracey was ejected.
