Rep. Rosemarie Rung and Town Councilor Nancy Murphy have teamed up to run for NH State Representative for Merrimack.

Nancy, a founding member of Merrimack Citizens for Clean Water, is a “Water Warrior,” and upon her election as state representative in 2018 she wrote the bill, passed into law in 2019, that created NH’s 5-year PFAS Commission. The Commission on which Nancy continues to serve, spearheads legislative and non-legislative actions to address the health and environmental impacts of the contamination. Rosemarie has served as chair of the Commission since 2020 and drafted successful warrant articles to install PFAS filtration for Merrimack municipal water wells. Both Nancy and Rosemarie have sponsored legislation to establish stricter regulation of PFAS, including, higher fines for polluters, PFAS blood testing, allowing municipalities to restrict PFAS in wastewater, PFAS regulation in bottled water, PFAS standards for surface water, among others.

Rosemarie and Nancy chose to run a joint campaign since their community values and priorities are aligned. Both have extensive service to Merrimack. Nancy, a foster and adoptive parent, is a retired nurse who currently serves as a Merrimack Town Councilor. She has a long history of volunteerism for numerous charitable and school programs. Rosemarie is founder and former board chair of Laura’s World Fund, a non-profit to support underserved children. She has extensive board experience on area non-profits and is currently seeking her third term in the NH House.
