Icy, Messy Monday Morning Commute: Weather Alert

Hazardous weather outlook alert issued for tonight, tomorrow morning; warmer temps for NH after that. Plus, more rain on the horizon.

A hazardous weather outlook was issued by the National Weather Service at around 3 p.m. on April 10, 2016, warning residents in Merrimack, Hillsborough, and Rockingham counties that a warm front is coming into the region that will bring light snow and freezing rain with it, according to the alert.

Accumulation is expected in the central and northern areas of New Hampshire overnight and then early Monday.

“Warmer air arrives and changes precipitation to rain,” according to the alert. “There is the potential for a slick Monday morning commute.”

Temperatures will be more seasonal during the early part of the week and rain is expected to return later in the week, according to AccuWeather.com.

The following is the weather forecast for the next few days issued by the National Weather Service:

Tonight: A chance of snow late tonight and early tomorrow morning with lows in the 20s.

Monday: Snow at first and then rain mixing with sleet and freezing rain. The precipitation changes to rain after 8 a.m. with winds in the 10 to 15 mph range with gusts as high as 25 mph. The rain is expected to continue into the evening.

Tuesday: Rain with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. A chance of rain during the evening and early morning hours and then cloudy skies with lows in the 30s.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. During the evening, lows will be in the 30s.

Expect similar weather on Thursday with rain returning on Friday.
