It amazes me how some children behave on our school buses. The job of the bus driver is to get your children to and from school safely and on schedule every day, sunshine, rain or snow. Although most children board the bus, pick a seat and then sit quietly for the 10 to 15 minute ride, many seem to believe that they can behave as they choose without regard for their safety or the safety of their classmates.
Jumping from seat to seat, hanging out into the aisle, kneeling on the seats or standing while the bus is in motion is not tolerated and cause for the driver to pull the bus over and correct the behavior issue. On occasion, an individual student must be singled out after repeated attempts to get that student to follow the rules. This is not meant to embarrass the student but to correct the misbehavior.
As parents, it would be of great assistance to the bus drivers if you, as parents, would speak to your children and instill proper bus behavior with them. It's important for them to understand that the bus is an extension of their classroom and they are expected to show the driver the same respect they give to their teachers and behave accordingly.
Lets make the ride to and from school a safe one.
