Senate Candidates to attend forum June 18

 4/28/2014

The Merrimack Business Association is pleased to announce that it is  holding a  United States Senate Republican Primary Candidate Forum on Wednesday June 18th from 700PM to 830PM in the Matthew Thornton Meeting Room at Merrimack Town Hall. The event will be broadcast several  times on Merrimack Cable Access Channel 22.

Three   Senate Candidates have accepted the invitation ( Senator James Rubens, Senator Bob Smith and Mrs.  Karen Testerman) . Senator Scott Brown has not yet  replied but it is our hope and  expectation that his lack of response was an oversight and that  he will be attending so that citizens will have their first opportunity to see the four candidates together for the first time as they explain why they are best suited to represent New Hampshire.

The event will be moderated by Merrimack resident Tom Young and will consist of candidates opening and closing statements as well as questions regarding  the following issues as they pertain to New Hampshire – The New Hampshire Business and Employment  Climate, Health Care and Taxes. All questions will be asked of all candidates, in a rotating format

Invitations were sent to the four candidates via  registered mail, with the request that they RSVP their reply within 5 days of the receipt of their invitation so that planning could commence. It also contained contact info in case anyone had questions about the event. .Senator Rubens, Senator Smith and Mrs Testerman all replied to the invitation soon after signing for it and all  said they were appreciative to  have the opportunity to reach out to the voters of New Hampshire at the forum in historic Merrimack Town Hall. Senator Brown's registered letter was signed for  on April 23rd but he has yet to reply.  We have also reached out to him using other avenues and have gotten no response. Until we hear differently, we will be moving forward with the  hope and expectation that all four candidates will be in attendance.

New Hampshire voters expect  candidates to ask for and earn their vote one citizen at a time . Representing the people of New Hampshire in the United States Senate  is a big responsibility and the Merrimack Business Association is honored to be able to provide a forum where the  voters are able to see and compare the candidates side by side while giving  the candidates an opportunity to show voters that they are deserving of their vote.

We look forward to having a great event on June 18th in Merrimack NH.
