Seven NH Companies Get Job Training Grants

Gov. Hassan: Matching grants will help 220 workers in Hampton, Hanover, Merrimack, Pembroke, Portsmouth, and Somersworth obtain new skills.

Continuing her efforts to help New Hampshire workers develop the skills and innovative thinking needed for success in the good jobs of the 21st century economy, Gov. Maggie Hassan, D-Exeter, announced today that seven New Hampshire companies have been awarded job training grants to help them train 220 workers in new skills, according to a press statement.

The job training grants total $58,141, and the companies contributed the same in matching funds to bring the total amount for training workers to $116,282.

“I am excited to announce this latest round of important grants that will help New Hampshire workers develop new skills for high-quality jobs at our growing businesses,” she said. “New Hampshire’s Job Training Fund is a valuable resource that has helped provide thousands of workers with skills essential for success in the innovation economy. We must maintain our commitment to higher education and job training in order to attract innovative businesses, help existing companies grow, support the creation of good jobs and expand middle class opportunity.”

  • Green Mountain Communications Inc. of Pembroke received a grant of up to $15,186 for 25 employees to receive training from a variety of providers in project management, Prism and Spectrum installation and commissioning, network analysis, Pathloss 5, 5-Step DAS Commission, fiber optics, PIM testing, and construction project management.
  • A grant of $12,379 was awarded to Anheuser-Busch Inc. of Merrimack for training 81 employees in a variety of courses, including HACCP Certification Preparation and others.
  • ContiTech Thermopol Inc. of Somersworth received a Job Training Fund grant of $7,875 for 45 employees to receive training from Great Bay Community College in leadership and supervision.

  • Modernist Pantry Inc. of Portsmouth received a grant of $1,900 for Lean Certificate training for one person at Manchester Community College.

  • C3i Inc. of Hampton received a grant of up to $5,908 for a variety of providers to train 20 employees in risk management, essentials of quality management systems, fundamentals of CMMI, senior professional supply management certification, software configuration management and software project management and advanced project management, among other courses and skills.

  • CHI Engineering of Portsmouth received a Job Training Fund grant of $6,493 to train eight employees in a variety of skills.

  • Dartmouth Printing, Inc. of Hanover received a grant of up to $8,400 for training 40 employees in a variety of New Hampshire Manufacturing Extension Project Lean courses.

The Job Training Fund has awarded $7,940,207.64 in grants since October 2007, with employers contributing $10,593,034.81 for a total of $18,533,242.45 in new training for 23,556 New Hampshire workers.
