Sununu And Executive Council Vote To Eliminate Merrimack Toll
The vote Monday, to remove the charges for the Exit 11 ramp toll on the Everett Turnpike, was unanimous.

CONCORD, NH — The governor and Executive Council have voted to remove the toll from the Exit 11 ramp in Merrimack, according to a vote that occurred Monday. The tollbooth has infuriated many residents for a very long time because they believed that it was essentially a tax for utilizing the turnpike while living in Merrimack – whereas residents from other communities along the turnpike are not tolled even though they have direct access to the road. According to officials, net revenue annually for the Exit 11 tollbooth was about $800,000.
House Republican Leader Dick Hinch, who is a state representative in Merrimack, commended the vote and thanked town officials who continued to press the issues with state officials.
"I am extremely pleased the Council took up this vote today and voted to effectively eliminate the tolls at Exit 11 in Merrimack," Hinch said. "This toll relief project has been in the works for 20 years. It has been a priority of current and former Merrimack state representatives, as well as numerous town selectmen and town councilors. I sincerely thank Governor Sununu for providing the leadership and taking the initiative to finally eliminate these tolls, which provided very little state revenue but have been an extreme burden to the citizens of Merrimack."
