The Week Ahead: Aug. 29-Sept. 3

Get the kids ready to head back to school. The first day for all of Merrimack's public schools is on Thursday.

Due to a busy Saturday and Sunday of prepping for the storm and then covering its effects here in Merrimack, this week's Week Ahead was delayed by a day. But here is a snapshot of what's happening in town between now and Saturday:

On Tuesday, fifth-graders are invited to a special meet and greet. Students and their parents are invited to head to for a meet and greet with their teachers before school starts on Thursday. The meet and greet starts in the Smith Gym at 6 p.m.

Wednesday evening is the final summer concert of the season. This is the last chance to get out a spend an evening listening to music in Abbie Griffin Park during the The final performance of this season will be by Random Acts of Harmony starting at 7 p.m. This popular acoustic folk singing group plays popular tunes from the '60s and '70s. Grab a blanket or some lawn chairs and pack a picnic and head out for the final concert of the summer.

Pack up those backpacks, get those haircuts because Thursday is the first day of school. That's right, time for the buses to get back on the road and the kiddos to hit the books after a well-deserved summer break. All of Merrimack's pubic schools will open Sept. 1 for two days to get settled back in ahead of a three-day holiday weekend.

The will be closed Saturday, Sept. 3-Monday Sept. 5 in observance of Labor Day. If you're planning to take out some books for the long weekend, make sure you do so by the end of the day Friday.

Friday's the day to help grow your business. If you're looking to improve your business contacts in the area, make sure you head over to the Chamber of Commerce Conference Room at 246 Daniel Webster Highway for the first AM Networking Plus of September.
