Tomahawks Down Memorial 3-1 at JFK

Merrimack improves to 5-0 in regular season action.

Merrimack High School hockey defeated division 1 opponent Memorial at JFK Monday night.

The Tomahawks opened up the scoring early in the first period on a goal generated by a nice move into the offensive zone by Sophomore Remy Tupper. Tupper fed the puck cross the slot for a Freshman Stephen Licata one-timer that found the back of the net.

Merrimack added to the score in the second period off a Senior Jason Fortin/Junior Aaron Tupper combination play with Tupper finishing off the play from the top of the crease.

Sophomore John Tiano capped the scoring for the Tomahawks in the third period by tapping home his own rebound generated by Aaron Tupper cross crease feed.

Memorial would finally solve Tomahawk Senior goalie Matt Brewster late in the third period but Merrimack would hold on for the 3-1 win.

Next up, as the Tomahawk’s busy week continues, is a very good Kingswood team on Wednesday, with division II scoring sensation Josh Grasso (10 goals to date). Game time is 4pm at West Side Arena.
