Town Accepts FEMA Grant to Cover Snowtober Costs

The October 2011 storm, which dropped more than 2 feet, met FEMA criteria.

The Merrimack Town Council voted Thursday to accept a $152,250 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Administration as an eligible reimbursement from the October 2011 snow storm.

The FEMA category is at a reimbursement rate of 75 percent. The town spent about $203,000 for overall removal and cleanup, according to Finance Director Paul T. Micali.

Gov. John Lynch requested a presidential declaration, which was approved late last year, to help cover local and state damage assessments in the neighborhood of $3 million.
