VIDEO: McCain and Ayotte Address BAE Employees, Veterans

On Tuesday, Sens. Kelly Ayotte, R-NH, and John McCain, R-Ariz., in Merrimack about the looming budget cuts to the country's defense budget.

The $500 billion in cuts represent 50 percent of the $1 trillion in cuts set to occur on Jan. 1, though defense spending represents only 19 percent of the country's budget.

Ayotte and McCain both spoke to the importance of both sides of the aisle coming together to work toward a solution, saying that allowing this kind of money to be cut from the defense budget will create a national security crisis on top of the nation's ongoing economic crisis.
