Visions for Vacancies: 356 Daniel Webster

What's your vision for this vacant store front?

"Visions for Vacancies," is a column where we provide you with a snapshot of various vacant commercial and retail spaces around town and ask what you think should go into that space.

The fun of it is that it really becomes a wish list of the things people want to see come to town, realistic or not. It's fun to dream, right? We know a new supermarket tops that list, but what else do you think would make Merrimack a better, more fun, convenient, or interesting place to live?

Feel free to be creative. It could be a long shot, but perhaps your idea kicks around another idea that actually becomes a viable option.

This week, we want to know what you'd like to see replace the former Blockbuster location that was, for a short time, replaced by the Always New 2 You.

The retail space is in what was once a vibrant strip mall filled by Shaw's, CVS, a Liquor Store, a jewerly store, restaurants, Radio Shack and more. The mall is now sparsely filled by Hair Excitement, Bank of America and Shaolin Adapting Fist Kung Fu. Work is also being completed in the old Silver Maple Restaurant for a new sushi bar set to open sometime in the near future.

The best news out of this plaza is that at the end of May, Shaw's will not renew its lease on the anchor space, which means there's an opportunity for this plaza to thrive again.

The space that Always New 2 You and Blockbuster once filled, according to plans in the building department, is around 8,000 square feet.

The property manager is The MEG Companies, and can be contacted at 434-6700 or via email for more information about the property.

But for now, we just want to know: What is your dream is for this space?
