Woman Almost Hits Officer with Her Car: Cops

Merrimack Police stopped, arrested Melissa Zorn on drug charges on Tuesday on Baboosic Lake Road.

MERRIMACK, NH — A local woman was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop on Tuesday, according to police. Melissa Joyce Zorn, 22, London Court in Merrimack, was arrested on Nov. 8, 2016, and charged with possession of a controlled drug-marijuana, and transportation of drugs.

At round 4 p.m. police were directing traffic on Baboosic Lake Road when an officer attempted to stop traffic in the area of McElwain Street. During the process of doing so, according to Sgt. Kenneth MacLeod of the Merrimack Police Department, the officer was almost struck by a passing vehicle.

“The vehicle was subsequently stopped and the operator was identified as Melissa Joyce Zorn,” MacLeod stated. “While speaking with Zorn, the investigating officer made observations of possible drug activity within the vehicle. Upon further investigation, Zorn was found to be in possession of a controlled drug, marijuana.”

Zorn was arrested and charged. She was released on personal recognizance and is due in court on Dec. 15.
