Youth Grapplers Compete in Salem Tournament
Members of the Merrimack Youth Wrestling Team competed in the Jon Spohn Memorial Wrestling Classic over the weekend.
The Merrimack Youth Wrestling Program sent eleven wrestlers to compete in the Jon Spohn Memorial Wrestling Classic held at Salem High School in Salem, NH on January 4th, 2014. Individual results were as follows:
Third grader Kevin Sheridan lost a tough match but then rebounded to pin his next two opponents, netting a 3rd place podium finish.
Kindergartener Kael McAloon racked up three victories en route to his third place finish.

Jackson Meehan, a first grader, won two matches by pin on the way to a fourth place mark.
Kindergarteners Collin Schuster and Rhys Dewar, first grader Cayden Dine, third grader Mitchell Krupp, and sixth graders Anthony Maglio, Anson Dewar, and Aiden Hanning all won at least one match on the day.

Seventh grader, Diego Vizcarra, also participated in the tournament.

The Merrimack Youth Wrestling Program is part of the Merrimack Youth Association. It strives to provide a safe recreational activity for Merrimack children in grades K-6. The program promotes the sport of wrestling, the world’s oldest sport, by providing a safe practice environment, by delivering high quality instruction, and by facilitating tournament competition opportunities. The Program is in its 9th season and currently has 40 wrestlers on its roster.
