After considerable discussion and thought, the Ambulance Building Committee has unanimously voted to postpone the late fall ground breaking to the early spring for the following key reasons:
- We believe a more competitive bidding market will exist this winter than early fall, helping to control costs, creating a greater cost assurance environment.
- We believe there will be an elimination of risks that surround winter construction as the relate to cost, quality and delays.
- We believe a more thorough analysis and review of the proposed building plans and bidding environment will be in place.
- All pricing will be in hand with a spring start, gaining a full understanding of expected expenses.
Given these factors and with protecting the taxpayers’ monies paramount, we believe the most prudent course of action is to wait. If another mild winter visits us this year, the schedule can be adjusted to accommodate an earlier start. We sincerely believe this is the most prudent course of action. We will keep the public posted as we progress and the Town’s website is constantly being updated as the project develops.
