Meals on Wheels, a program of St. Joseph Community Services, Inc., has received beautiful, hand-knitted gifts for its elderly and disabled homebound clients donated by the knitting group that meets every week at AC Moore in Nashua. These knitters have been clicking needles and turning yarn into beautiful shawls, gloves, hats, scarves and blankets for the less fortunate around the area.
Meghan Brady, President of St. Joseph Community Services, said “We are so grateful for this generous donation. Many of our clients keep their heat turned down to save money so warm, knitted items are a necessity. Hundreds of warm items have been packed in Holiday Gift bags to be delivered by the Meals on Wheels drivers when they deliver that day’s meals.”
In addition to creating such beautiful and useful items, the knitting group has also volunteered to help pack the holiday gift bags, filling them not only with their beautiful gifts, but also with items donated by individuals and organizations in the community.
