Ledgewood Bay Residents "Eat Fresh, Eat Local"

Ledgewood Bay has joined the locavore movement and is "eating fresh, eating local" with the help of Lull Farms.

An unlikely organization – a local assisted living center -- has joined the locavore movement.  Ledgewood Bay assisted living community in Milford has rolled out what they call the “Eat Fresh Eat Local” program.  The goal is to a take advantage of local growers and producers of vegetables, fruits, and herbs to create a dining experience that focuses on local tastes, freshness and seasonal produce.  They have learned that age does not lessen the desire for fresh quality dining -- it often enhances it!

Ledgewood has partnered with Lull Farms to get all of its produce at the peak of freshness.  The culinary team also changes the menu regularly to reflect what’s in season, which is a huge rarity among assisted living centers.

Periodically, the senior residents of Ledgewood visit the farm to personally choose their produce.
