Zahn's Alpine Guesthouse
Zahn's Alpine Guesthouse- Hospitality in the Style of Alpine Europe
Our family owns Zahn’s Alpine Guesthouse, which is located on Rt. 13, just North of the Milford and Mont Vernon town line. It is a small Bed and Breakfast (8 rooms) which has been in business since 1991. A lot of European travel, including buying trips for the family import business, and ski tours, led to its creation. It is a faithful re-creation of a Bavarian or Alpine style Gasthaus. It is furnished with Austrian furniture, lighting, and décor. The Stube (common room) features a beautiful tile oven (Kachelofen) like the ones seen throughout the Alps and Dolomites.
If you are interested to see the Guesthouse, stop by. We are always happy to give a tour.
Tom and Carol Balkum, our innkeepers, are moving next month, so we are looking to find someone to take over their position. Basically, the innkeepers live in a very nice four-room apartment cost free, in exchange for seeing to the day-to-day responsibilities of running the inn. This includes booking rooms, greeting guests, securing payment and serving breakfast. It also means keeping things neat and clean, and starting fires in the cold months. The ideal would be a retired or semi-retired couple, since there needs to be someone on the premises pretty much all the time. A sociable person will enjoy the contact with a diverse clientele, including many International travelers.
