The Craftworkers’ Guild Spring&nbsp;Shop Celebrating 100 Years of&nbsp;Craftsmanship, Community and Creativity
The Craftworkers’ Guild is proud to continue the celebration of our 100th anniversary year with the Spring Shop. The shop will be open 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Thursdays to Sundays from April 30th through May 24th. Our shop is located at the historic Kendall House, 3A Meetinghouse Road in Bedford, behind the Bedford Library.
Now in our centennial year, the Guild continues to honor a century-long commitment to excellence in fine craftsmanship. This year’s Spring Shop features the work of over 40 local Guild member artisans and craftspeople, showcasing a rich variety of handmade goods — from timeless New England traditions to fresh, modern designs.
“Reaching this 100-year milestone fills us with gratitude for the generations of crafters who shaped our Guild, and it inspires is to share a collection that honors that legacy while embracing new creative directions,” says Carol Davis, President of the Craftworkers’ Guild. “Each shop brings its own burst of imagination, and this year’s shop carries a special weight as we celebrate a century of handcrafted artistry.”
Shoppers will find a curated selection of locally made, juried crafts, with something for everyone — from Mother’s Day gifts to graduation and wedding presents — including seasonal décor, photography, fine art and prints, cards, woodworking, textiles, pottery, fiber arts, sewn and knitted items, soap and body care, gourmet goodies, candles, jewelry, glass, and more. Many items are one-of-a-kind, perfect for gifts or treating yourself.
Proceeds help support the Guild’s ongoing arts education initiatives in the community, continuing our mission to inspire creativity for the next generation of artists and makers.

The Craftworkers’ Guild Spring Shop — Last Weekend!

Join us for our third annual plant sale and marketplace with proceeds benefitting the gardens at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. The gardens are entirely supported and funded by a dedicated team of volunteers from throughout the community. We are planning a tremendous event with over 150 varieties of exceptional native plants and non-natives that support our local wildlife. 
This includes many species that are indigenous to our area of New Hampshire which means they are extremely valuable for the successful reproduction of our native butterflies and moths. Our plants are New Hampshire grown and will be sold below retail price.
Our marketplace will include the ever popular moss terrariums, handmade quilts, decoupage shells, jewelry, and beautiful handmade cards by Deb Wiseman Photography. We will also have an assortment of garden tools and garden-themed items. Tell your friends!

Hip jazz club style &amp; vibe, a rising jazz star in New York City &amp; Chicago that won the 2022 International Ella Fitzgerald Competition, PLUS a terrific full big band - all come together to support a great visual arts destination! That’s what’s in store on Saturday June 6th when the 19-piece Compaq Big Band and Special Guest Vocalist Julia Smulson perform at a fundraiser concert for the Andres Institute of Art (AIA) in Brookline, New Hampshire. This will be Julia Danielle’s premiere performance with us, and we’re beyond thrilled to welcome her to the Greater Boston area for the first time.
The venue for this event is in the Big Bear Lodge AIA Welcome Center located at 106 Route 13 in Brookline. The show runs 7:00pm-9:00pm. Julia Danielle is a dynamic vocalist, arranger, educator, and composer making a significant impact in the scenes of Chicago and New York. In 2022, she won the prestigious International Ella Fitzgerald Jazz Vocal Competition, which propelled her into the spotlight, leading to performances at the esteemed Blues Alley Jazz Club in Washington, D.C., showcasing her unique voice and engaging stage presence.
Her debut album, released in November 2024, has received critical acclaim, with Jazz Weekly describing it as “a fresh voice” with “a folksy wisp that floats with a bohemian glide.” Julia has collaborated with numerous celebrated artists, including Ben Paterson, Clark Sommers, and Sharel Cassity, enriching her musical experience and expanding her creative horizons. A 2024 Luminarts Winner and recognized by DownBeat Magazine as an "Outstanding Vocal Soloist" in its 46th annual Student Music Awards, Julia's talent is widely acknowledged in the community.
Julia will receive a Master of Music in Jazz Studies at The Juilliard School in May 2026, where she has been mentored by renowned artists such as Charenee Wade, Gerald Cannon, Kenny Washington, Isaiah J. Thompson, and Elio Villafranca. Her studies focused on vocal interpretation, composition, and improvisation, further refining her artistry. Julia's performance history includes esteemed venues like The Jazz Showcase, Zinc Bar, Chris' Jazz Café, and festivals such as The Hyde Park Jazz Festival, establishing her as a prominent figure on the scene.
With a foundation in classical training at Northwestern University and experiences such as touring with the Campanella Children's Choir and Chicago a Cappella, Julia's musical journey began early. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from DePaul University in 2023, where she explored Black American Music and pedagogy under the guidance of esteemed faculty such as Dana Hall, Scott Hesse, and Dennis Carroll. Julia Danielle continues to evolve as an artist and educator, poised to leave a lasting impact.
On June 6th she’ll be singing arrangements from the Great American Songbook as performed by Ella Fitzgerald, Diane Schuur, Carmen McRae, Natalie Cole, Tierney Sutton, and more. And, we’ll round out the evening with a few tasty instrumental arrangements from the likes of Benny Carter, Tom Kubis, Chris Walden, John Clayton, and Frank Foster.

The Amato Center for Performing Arts

Southern New Hampshire audiences have a rare chance to witness an award-winning work that is as timely as it is timeless. Different Ships, Same Boat is an interactive, multidisciplinary performance weaving together powerful spoken word, original music, and song to explore the multifaceted ways Americans risk, live, love, and laugh. 
As our nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of its Independence, along with the annual observance of Juneteenth, Former NH State Senator, Melanie Levesque, in partnership with the nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, Open Democracy, are thrilled to be able to bring this world-class ensemble to perform this moving work to the Amato Center for the Performing Arts. 
 Unfolding through a series of chapters — each drawing from real-world stories — the show invites audiences into the full, complicated beauty of American life. Guiding the evening are two extraordinary co-hosts: Regie Gibson, Massachusetts Poet Laureate and former National Poetry Slam Champion, and Guy Mendilow, composer and storycatcher, whose podcast-like narration carries audiences from small towns and cities to historic ports of entry. Their banter is by turns humorous, poignant, and poetic — always alive. Joined by violinist Chris Baum and vocalist and keyboardist Courtney Swain, the ensemble performs a score spanning lyrical American Blues to songs carried across oceans — including Ottoman Jewish melodies from present-day Greece and Hungary. Together, they illuminate stories that often fly under the radar found history books; of immigrant communities who built this nation, and ordinary people living extraordinary lives. The result is a stirring anthology that connects audiences to American histories, perspectives, and experiences both familiar and entirely new.

Tickets are: $35 for Adults, $25 for Students, and $10 for Children 14 and under. Sponsorships are warmly welcomed. Sponsorships run from $100 – $1,000 and come with tickets. All ticket and sponsorship purchases are fully tax deductible and all profits will be donated to local charities. This show is for one night only and seating is limited, so get your tickets as soon as you can.
