Frank Edelblut, Colin Van Ostern Win in Milford

Turnout low, 17.4 percent show at poll.

MILFORD, NH — When the primary election poll closed at 8 pm in Milford on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, only 1,817 voters had cast their ballot at Milford Middle School. That was 17.4 percent of voters.

Colin Van Ostern led in Milford as the Democratic governor candidate with 270 votes. Frank Edelblut won as the Republican governor candidate with 578 votes.

Republican Kelly Ayotte swept votes in Milford for the US Senate seat with 918 votes. The next closest Republican candidate was Jim Rubens with 214 votes.

Jim Lawrence led the Republican candidates for Representative in Congress with 475 votes, followed by Jack B. Flanagan who received 307 votes, Walter W. Kelly with 73, Casey Newell with 54, Andy Martin with 43, Eric P. Estevez with 30, and Jay Mercer with 27.

On the Democrat side, Ann McLane Kuster went uncontested with 580 votes.

Both parties had one candidate for Executive Councilor. Republican, Dave Wheeler, received 951 votes and Democrat, Dan Weeks, received 564 votes.

For State Senator, Republican Gary L. Daniels received 1,039 votes and Democrat Roger Tilton received 556 votes.

Keith Ammon was the only Republican candidate for State Representative in Hillsborough District 40 and received 944 votes. Kat McGhee, the only Democratic candidate, received 526 votes.

Hillsborough District 23 had 4 Republican and 4 Democratic Candidates. The Republican candidates were Charlie Burns with 761 votes, Barbara Biggie, 689 votes, Carolyn Halstead, 679 votes and Michael E. Thornton with 636 votes. The Democratic candidates were Joelle Martin, 513 votes, Elise deMichael, 460 votes, Herb Salmon, 434 votes and Frank Emmick, 427 votes.

For Sheriff, Republican James A. Hardy received 968 votes and Democrat Bill Barry received 551 votes.
