Hassan Announces Job Training Grants for Five NH Companies

Building on her efforts to help New Hampshire workers develop the skills and innovative thinking necessary for success in the 21st century economy, Gov. Maggie Hassan, D-Exeter, announced yesterday that five New Hampshire companies were awarded job training grants in July to help them train 129 workers in new skills.

The job training grants total $34,350 and the companies matched the training funds to bring the total amount for training workers to $68,700.

“I am proud to announce another round of important grants to help prepare workers for good jobs at New Hampshire’s growing businesses,” said Hassan. “New Hampshire’s Job Training Fund is a critical resource that has helped thousands of workers develop important skills. In order to support the business community’s efforts to create good jobs and keep New Hampshire’s economy moving in the right direction, we must continue to focus on strengthening our workforce pipeline through job training and higher education.”

• Schleuniger Inc. of Manchester received a grant of up to $20,224 for 45 employees to receive training courses from several training providers. Manchester Community College (MCC) will provide training in a variety of leadership development courses; a business development course will be offered by MBDI; Skillpath will offer managing multiple projects; presentation skills and catalyst for innovation will be offered by the University of New Hampshire; and AGI will offer photoshop training.
• ControlAir Inc. of Amherst received a grant of $8,300 for the NH Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MHMEP) to train 51 employees in lean manufacturing.
• AgaMatrix, Inc. of Salem received a Job Training Fund grant of $2,600 for 25 employees to receive strategic planning training from The Highly Trained Eye.
• D.D. Bean & Sons. Co. of Jaffrey received a grant of $2,176 for training one employee in blueprint reading, machining, machine tool math, inspection and machine processes at River Valley Community College (RVCC).
• Nipro Consumer Healthcare of Lancaster received a $1,050 training grant for seven employees to receive supervisory training from White Mountains Community College (WMCC).

The Job Training Fund has awarded $8,100,994.64 in grants since October 2007, with employers contributing $10,787,821.81 for a total of $18,808,816.45 in new training for 23,480 New Hampshire workers.
