Kuster Discusses Efforts to Support Small Businesses in Milford

During tours of AIRMAR and Cirtronics, Kuster highlighted her new bill, the Export Promotion Act.

MILFORD, NH — U.S. Rep. Ann McLane Kuster, D-NH, visited several Milford businesses to discuss programs she’s prioritizing at the federal level to support small businesses in New Hampshire and across the country, according to a press statement. During tours of AIRMAR and Cirtronics, Kuster specifically highlighted her recently introduced legislation, the Export Promotion Act, which would help to streamline export assistance programs under the Department of Commerce to make it easier for small businesses to sell overseas.

Kuster also discussed her work to connect small businesses with community colleges to help build a workforce with the skills necessary for advanced manufacturing jobs in New Hampshire.

“Both AIRMAR and Cirtronics are great examples of the types of businesses that are helping to grow our economy and create good jobs right here in New Hampshire,” said Kuster. “My goal is to help more companies succeed, as they have, by providing the resources necessary to reach new customers around the world. Ninety-five percent of the world's consumers live outside of the United States, so if we can help Granite State businesses sell outside our borders we can help them expand and create jobs."

Kuster said it was “critical that we have the workforce that’s demanded by companies around our state ... that’s why I’ve worked to expand workforce development and job training programs. My legislation, the Workforce Development Act, would give companies that partner with community colleges a tax credit to train Granite Staters in the skills needed for local careers.”

AIRMAR is world leader in the development of marine-sonar technologies, and Cirtronics is an employee owned corporation that manufactures a wide variety of products. Both are prime examples of the advanced manufacturing that is an important part of growing New Hampshire’s economy. During the tours, Kuster met with company leadership as well as employees at both businesses to discuss her proposals to keep New Hampshire’s economy strong and vibrant.
