Man Bagged Driving 82 mph on Route 101A: Cops

Merrimack Police arrest Michael Wiechec of Milford on drunk driving, speeding, other charges, this morning.

MERRIMACK, NH - A local man was arrested this morning after police allegedly clocked him going more than 80 mph in a 40 mph zone, according to an arrest report.

Michael J. Wiechec, 44, of Briarcliff Drive in Milford, was arrested at just after 1:30 a.m. on March 3, 2016, and charged with operating under the influence-liquor, aggravated operating under the influence-liquor, open container, and speed.

An officer at around 1:30 a.m. observed a man reportedly speeding on Route 101A near Hall Avenue. The vehicle, according to the officer, was clocked allegedly going 82 mph in a posted 40 mph area and it was pulled over.

“While speaking with Wiechec about the speed violation, officers noticed signs of impairment,” according to Lt. Matthew Tarleton of the Merrimack Police Department. “Upon further investigation, (including) field sobriety tests, Wiechec was deemed to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. Also observed in the vehicle were a number of open alcohol containers.”

Wiechec was released on personal recognizance bail and is due in court on March 10.
