Milford High Wins We the People: The Citizen And Constitution Awards
The school won four NH District Hearings for 2022, while John Stark Regional and Hollis-Brookline High School each won a unit.
CONCORD, NH — Several Granite State high school students debated the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights in “mock Congressional hearings” on Dec. 2 in Concord as part of the New Hampshire Bar Association’s We the People: The Citizen and Constitution program.
Students from Hollis-Brookline, John Stark Regional, and Milford high schools held the mock hearings before six panels consisting of three volunteer New Hampshire lawyers and judges. The students prepared presentations, were professional, and exhibited knowledge about historical texts and answered questions about current events from the judges.
An awards ceremony was held to recognize each constitutional athlete individually and in groups for excellence in each of six units of study, directed by Attorney Howard J. Zibel, and Law Related Education Committee Chairwoman, Attorney Jennifer A. Eber.
