Milford Police Department in the Process of Selecting a New Officer

Following the oral boards last week, Captain Shawn Pelletier is working to narrow down the pool to final candidates.

MILFORD, NH — The Milford Police Department has an opening for a new officer. Captain Shawn Pelletier, who is leading the search, said candidates took part in interviews during the week of Oct. 4, 2016.

“Our oral board has a lot to do with us getting to know somebody,” Pelletier said. “We are looking for a good fit with our agency and our officers.”

The position opened when an officer left the department this year, and interest was strong, according to Pelletier. In addition to local newspapers, sign boards and police job sites, he said Facebook and Twitter helped drive interest.

“It’s a good group of candidates,” Pelletier said, noting that backgrounds varied beyond criminal justice, including business and arts.

The physical and written test took place on Oct. 1, leaving 17 candidates for the oral boards. Pelletier said the focus now is selecting final candidates for further screenings and background checks.

Pelletier said he would like to have the new officer selected in time for the Policy Academy training class that is held in January in Concord.
