NH Man Admits To Blowing Up LGBT News Box In Mass.
Report: John Richard of Hollis agrees to a plea while Lawrence Gilman of Milford chooses to go to trial.
SALEM, MA — A Hollis, NH, man has admitted that he took part in a vandalism incident last summer that resulted in an alternative newspaper news box being blown up, according to a report in the Salem News in Massachusetts. John Richard, 23, received a year probation, a year continued without a finding, as well as community service and a restitution fine for blowing up a news box owned by The Rainbow Times, New England’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans newspaper.
A second man – Lawrence Gilman, 21, of Milford – goes to trial in June.
This wasn't the first time The Rainbow Times news boxes had been targeted, according to its co-founder and editor-in-chief, Nicole Lashomb, who told Patch last year that the paper's boxes have been a target of vandalism 10 times.
