Outside Water Use Banned In Milford
Due to severe drought conditions and a lack of rain, town officials have implemented outside water use restrictions.
MILFORD, NH — The town of Milford has issued a mandatory outside water ban.
The ban took effect on Monday due to the lack of rain and current drought conditions in the region, which are severe, especially in southern Hillsborough County. Officials said “the water table has dropped to dangerous levels,” which has led to both “the state and town ... now imposing an outside watering ban.”
Outside water use restrictions include the watering of gardens, lawns, and other landscaped areas; the washing of cars, trucks, RVs, driveways, sidewalks, patios, and decks, along with the filling of swimming pools from the water system.

“This will be strictly enforced to help preserve the resources we have, to make it through this drought,” officials said in an alert.
The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services has a new program to provide short-term relief and financial assistance for low-income residential well owners experiencing deterioration of water supply and drought issues. Up to $500,000 is available via the Drinking Water and Groundwater Trust Fund Commission.
