Police Investigate Explosive Material In Abandoned Hinsdale Home

Hinsdale Police and NH State Police shut down area of Indian Acres Drive after previously issuing "lock-in" order for nearby schools.

MILFORD, NH – Hinsdale Police kept school children from returning to the area of Indian Acres Drive Thursday afternoon as they investigated explosive materiel found in an abandoned home. Hinsdale Police declared a "lock-in" status for schools earlier in the day, but at about 2 p.m. announced that students would be released at normally schedule times, except for those who live between 110 and Apache Drive on Indian Acres.

Hinsdale Police updated late Thursday afternoon: "The scene has been rendered safe and all residents can return to their homes in Indian Acres. The schools have been placed back in normal status and all school functions are able to occur this evening."

Hinsdale Police issued a statement on Facebook earlier in the day that they had located "numerous explosive devices" in the abandon home. New Hampshire State Police, Hinsdale Fire Rescue and multiple neighboring police departments were assisting in the investigation Thursday afternoon.

Access to Indian Acres was restricted with evacuations ordered for the area. School children were not allowed outside during the "lock-in" order, but classroom work continued as usual.
