Steve Tango Tourangeau - You will see me listed as S. Tango Tourangeau on the ballot. Tango is my call sign from my service as an aviator in the US Air Force and I have been known by that name for over 35 years. I think you will agree that it is much easier to say and remember that "Tor-AN-Jo."

Why are you seeking elective office?

I am concerned that our liberties are being taken away from our families and our children are being programmed by a controlling BIG government with a liberal agenda. I feel socialism is coming and I must do something to stop it. I believe every citizen has to take some responsibility for him/her/itself and I believe in smaller government.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The impact of the state imposed restrictions on our liberties. This impact has been devastating to our community. It is so disappointing walking around the Milford Oval and seeing the number of business that have gone out of business permanently because they have not been able to serve their customers. Then there are our students that are missing out on a real education because we can come together in a classroom or participate in sports. This state was founded upon the liberties Gen John Stark was talking about when he famously stated "Live Free or Die. Death is not the worst of Evil". I intend to lead my fellow representatives in a fight to against these evils and return our rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

• I am a tireless worker – I work until the job is done.
• I plan to fight for conservative values and goals. I prefer to see each citizen empowered and taking responsibility for themselves. I want to create programs to ensure that outcome.
• I believe if you leave it to the people, they will take care of each other (case in point: the Minneapolis firefighter and the loss of his bar in the riots. In three days, $1.5M was raised to rebuild his bar through GoFundMe). People know what to do when it is the right thing to do. Let’s empower them.
• When you’re talking to me, I will listen. I will give you my full attention. I know how to quiet my mind and pay attention to what you are saying.
• I plan to be physically AT the State House to listen, participate, speak, and vote with my town’s interests in mind. I plan to have a > 95% Present voting record.
• I will act in ways that best represent the voices of the residents of Milford based on input from them in the best interests of New Hampshire. I see that as my job.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

Having not sat in their seat, I cannot say they have failed the community. I prefer to address how I can do things differently. I believe I can best serve as a State Rep by making an intention before each meeting at the State House to collaborate and work calmly in order to establish trust and respect with my colleagues. I wish to ease the grid lock in Concord and get things done. I intend to show up for as many meetings at the State House as I possibly can in order to vote and to participate in meaningful discussions. I believe I can create solutions and put resolutions in place for our state’s issues.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform

1. Preserve the NH Advantage: No new taxes. No retail sales tax, no NH State income tax and preserve or reduce property taxes
2. Preserve our 2nd amendment rights and the Sanctity of Life
3. Ensure election integrity and New Hampshire’s relevance as the first in the nation for Primary Elections

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

1. Experience leading organizations. I have a great deal of experience leading large organizations in my 35+ year career. My work in those leadership roles called for me to take big risks, feel uncomfortable (and help those I was leading wade through that discomfort), and in all cases, put the mission first. The people I led followed my lead, so I like to think I crafted a recipe for success through those tough leadership assignments. I bring effective leadership skills to the position such as team building, listening, negotiating. I am a subject matter expert throughout my industry. I effectively build people networks and teams. I have led numerous teams made up of both government and industry representatives to avoid kinetic conflict at all costs. I have worked with high-level executives from across my professional industry, so I’m very comfortable working with senior representatives in the military, government, and industry.
2. Since 2016, I have been voluntarily serving with the New Hampshire Wing of Civil Air Patrol. During this most recent COVID-19 pandemic, I volunteered over 100 hours of my time to deliver Personal Protection Equipment to our first responders and caregivers across the entire state. I used my skills as a leader to lead daily operations and ensure the mission got done. I will similarly use my devotion to service to help me complete my missions as a state representative.
3. I possess a unique ability to read through legal documents (such as contracts) and I am a vulture in finding issues and gaps. I will raise issues as needed to ensure the right legislation gets passed for our town and for New Hampshire.
4. I possess an unusual ability to engender trust and respect. I believe this tacit skill will serve me extremely well as a state representative, working with members from both sides of the aisle and among my committees.

The best advice ever shared with me was …

“Let us remember that every time we are discouraged that the private soldier is a poor judge of the fortunes of a great battle.” – William Ralph Inge

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

My wife, Melinda, and I love living in Milford. We moved here deliberately, choosing this town over Hollis, Amherst, Brookline, and several towns in the Lakes Region. Melinda’s roots are in Hudson and mine are in Plymouth. Yet, we chose to move to Milford. We believe it has what we are striving for in terms of a high quality of life, thriving businesses, and wonderful neighbors. When elected, you will have both Melinda’s and my complete support for the position.

I see myself as a servant leader, positioning myself on the front line to be the first to defend those I am pledged to support. When I am elected, I will represent the people of Milford at the state level with courage and commitment.

I have passion for the state of New Hampshire, and I am proud to call this state home.

Please vote on September 8 and November 3, 2020. It is our civic duty and our honor as free American citizens.

The third decade of the 21st century has begun. 2020 has given us incredible challenges. I would like to see the Town of Milford ready, willing, and able to restore its community activities and sociability as soon as possible. It is time to reopen small business and return our economy to its prosperous, efficient working rhythm. I think this time is a perfect opportunity for me to come in and help shape the Town of Milford for total family support and responsible education.

I wish to retain the Town of Milford’s glory: E.g. The Milford Oval draws people from all over the region each weekend and our Annual Pumpkin Festival draws tens of thousands of visitors. Did you know that in 2019, our town was chosen over Salem, MA, to launch the first US Postal Service Halloween stamp?
