Video Of Self-Proclaimed Fascist, Keene Talk Host Crying Goes Viral

In a live video feed, Christopher Cantwell, a former NY congressional candidate, cries about a possible arrest after "Unite the Right" riot.

KEENE, NH — A video featuring a New Hampshire man who is a self-proclaimed fascist and hosts an alt-right radio show crying about a possible arrest warrant after the “Unite the Right” melee in Charlottesville, VA, has gone viral. Christopher Cantwell, of Keene, who was featured on an HBO special about the Virginia march – angrily chatting with other marches – was crying in what appears to be a Facebook live post that has since been removed. Others were able to download the video and upload it for preservation.

Many people – including media outlets – took to mocking Cantwell for crying about an imminent arrest, according to RawStory.com.

In it, Cantwell claims that the organizers were planning a peaceful march, had worked with police, and were following the law by getting a permit to march in Emancipation Park. When he found out there might be a warrant for his arrest, he called police but they reportedly refused to confirm it and said he could visit a local magistrate to find out. Cantwell, however, told his audience that it was too dangerous for him to leave where he currently is located due to the National Guard being called up in the wake of incidents last weekend.

During the video, he mentions calling Keene Police for advice about what to do. The Keene Sentinel confirmed this with Lt. Steven Tenney this afternoon, who stated that the department has not had any serious issues with Cantwell since he moved to the city in 2012, from New York.

The Southern Poverty Law Center has a lengthy online dossier about Cantwell and his personal history, including extensively quoting from his neo-Nazi ramblings online, his arrest record – fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and DWI, where he served four months in jail – as well as substance abuse issues.

Free Keene, the libertarian blogging site, has called him “just an angry libertarian comedian who had a major hatred for the police” who has been disavowed by many in the movement due to his despicable racist views. They also wondered today that this might be a “money-making scheme for him” or if he was an undercover agent or confidential informant for the federal government.
