MILFORD, NH — I would like to announce my intention to run for the Milford School Board. As a 30 year resident of Milford, I feel that I bring a level of experience, commitment and honesty that make me an excellent candidate for this position. I had two children who attended the Milford schools and currently have a grandson attending Heron Pond Elementary school.

I was a classroom educator at Milford High School for 17 years and an administrator for three.

As a parent, grandparent, educator and citizen who is committed to the value of education for all students, I would like to have a role in continuing to offer the students of Milford a challenging, rigorous and appropriate education. We need to continue to focus on student achievement by making data driven decisions that will result in benefits to every child in our district. I would also like to foster community engagement in identifying and setting short and long term priorities and reaching the goals that we have set and will continue to set.

There are numerous stakeholders whose needs must be addressed — first and foremost, of course, are those of our students. Yet there are also the adults who entrust the education of their children to our district, the educational providers and support staff of our schools and the taxpayers and citizens of Milford. In allocating resources, weighing benefits and costs and making policy decisions, there will likely be competing needs and positions.

I would like to serve as a trustee of the people of Milford to help address these differences through collaboration and cooperation and find solutions that will reconcile both the needs and the wants of all stakeholders.

On both a professional and personal level, I have always attempted to be as honest and forthright as possible. I will continue to do so and hope that through honesty and transparency we can continue to address the challenges and opportunities that the 21st century presents our students and our community. I welcome the chance to join the members of the Milford School Board in continuing to provide an excellent education to our students.
