2 Skiers Hurt in NH Chairlift Crash
Two skiers were hurt at Granite Gorge when a mechanical issue caused their chairlift to crash into another chair.

ROXBURY, NH — Two skiers were hurt when their chairlift came loose and smashed into another chair at Granite Gorge in Roxbury over the weekend.

State officials said the mishap was due to a mechanical issue. The lift was shut down and reopened after the issue was fixed.
The incident happened Sunday at about 2:45 p.m. on a double chairlift. Two children were in the other chair; they were not hurt.

“Inspectors from the NH Department of Safety — Tramway & Amusement Ride Safety section assessed the chairs in question, and the preliminary investigation revealed a mechanical issue with the carrier grip was the cause of the accident,” officials said in a statement “Following a complete assessment and testing of all chairs and systems, the lift was authorized to re-open.”
