2 Pets Die During Building Fire In Nashua

Nashua firefighters knock down building blaze on Taschereau Boulevard on Friday.

NASHUA, NH — Fire investigators are attempting to find out the cause of a fire on Taschereau Boulevard on Friday.

Firefighters were sent to 34 Taschereau Boulevard around 10:45 a.m. after dispatch received several calls about a fire at the home, according to Deputy Chief James Kirk. The first arriving firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the two-story single-family home. A working fire was called, he said, bringing in more apparatus.

Firefighters searched the home, deployed lines, and used ladders to ventilate the roof. The fire was brought under control in a little less than an hour.

“The home sustained significant heat and smoke damage throughout,” Kirk said. “No one was home at the time of the fire but two pets inside the building perished.”

Four engines, two ladder trucks, and 29 firefighters participated in the incident.

The fire marshal’s office is still investigating the cause of the fire. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 603-589-3460.

Kirk reminded residents to regularly check smoke detectors in homes to ensure they are operating properly.

“If you discover a fire in your home, quickly evacuate, closing doors as you leave,” he said.
