3 Dogs Rescued From Burning House On Balcom Street In Nashua
Several occupants of the home were assisted from the building by Nashua firefighters. One was taken to the hospital.
NASHUA, NH — Nashua firefighters assisted several occupants and three dogs out of a burning building Sunday. At 8:20 p.m., three engines, two ladder trucks, and 23 firefighters were sent to Balcom Street for a report of a fire. The first arriving firefighters found smoke coming from a second-floor bedroom that was extending to the attic.
"The crew rapidly extinguished the fire as Engine 6 stretched a backup line and established water supply," said Deputy Chief Steve Buxton of the Nashua Fire Department. "Ladder 2 conducted a search of the building. Several occupants were assisted from the building by first arriving units."
The fire did not extend from the area of origin, Buxton added. One occupant of the home was taken to the hospital by AMR ambulance.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Buxton offered tips on how homeowners and tenants could be prepared for fires in their homes.
"Working smoke detectors save lives," he said. "Install, and maintain, working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home. Review fire safety evacuation plans and practice them with your families. Upon discovering a fire inside your home, evacuate the building and call for assistance. It could save your family’s lives."
