A visibility rally outside Senator Shaheen's Nashua office tomorrow

Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire will be holding a visibility rally outside of Senator Shaheen's Nashua, New Hampshire office located at 60 Main Street on Wednesday, July 24th from 12pm-1pm.

The purpose of the rally is to hold Senator Shaheen responsible for missing a mandatory quorum meeting on filibuster changes in the Senate last Monday, July 15th. As one of only two Senators not to attend the mandatory meeting, Senator Shaheen would only say her absence was due to a "scheduling conflict" until late Friday afternoon when her office finally admitted she missed the mandatory vote to attend a fundraiser in New York benefiting her re-election campaign.

Derek Dufresne, spokesman for Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire, released the following statement:

"Senator Jeanne Shaheen has been in elected office for over twenty years in New Hampshire.  Her refusal to elaborate throughout last week on why she missed a mandatory meeting on changes that would alter the rule structure of the U.S. Senate was inexcusable. However, the fact that it wasn't until a late Friday afternoon 'news dump' that her office finally admitted to Granite Staters that she was at a New York fundraiser benefiting her re-election is utterly deplorable.
"
Jeanne Shaheen owes New Hampshire an apology for putting her own career ahead of her constituents and we will be encouraging her to do so outside of her office tomorrow afternoon."
