ASD Celebrated 100th Day of school by Giving Back.

Part of the mission of ASD is to create responsible global citizens and as such ASD will periodically organize service projects that support the schools humanitarian efforts. For our most recent school wide service project, we partnered with Families in Transition (FiT), a non-profit that is dedicated to fighting homelessness in Manchester, Concord and Dover. We celebrated 100 days of school (which was on Wednesday, February 11, 2015) by challenging each advisory class to collect 100 items of canned goods or baby food. Many advisories collected more than 100 items. Susie Peacock from ASD worked with Jeff Bartel from Families in Transition to came up with the idea of having the students collect 100 items to celebrate the 100th day of school and chose the items that were most needed right now at FiT.

Jeff Bartel, Families in Transition Outreach Coordinator picked up the canned goods and baby food our students have been collecting. ASD collected well over 1500 items, with 7 advisories reaching the goal of collecting 100 items or more. Mr. Bartel said that this donation will go a long way and that it will more than double what they had on hand for families in need.

The Academy for Science and Design is actively seeking to partner with local companies and businesses for student-centered things such as internships in STEM fields for our students, financial donations, and/or presenters for our school for the SPARK Conferences. Financial donations can be an outright financial contribution in the amount of your choice, or can consist of underwriting costs for installing a specific facility technology or program. The Academy for Science and Design has two more SPARK Conferences scheduled this year, and presenters from the community are always welcome. More information can be found on our website at www.asdnh.org or email info@asdnh.org.
