Dietsch: Activists from TX, Tennessee, CT, And Maine Speak In Nashua

Most Nashua residents were not aware that activists from across the nation came to speak to a few hundred libertarians and Free Staters at the Nashua Hilton two weeks ago. The audience included dozens of "Liberty" Alliance members from the NH legislature.

The libertarians I met there were happy to tell me why they did not believe in democracy because it lets the majority "coerce" people. They want New Hampshire to be like the Wild West where there were few laws and everyone was out for themselves.

Sean Themea, COO of the Young Americans for Liberty [YAL] came all the way from Texas. YAL is funded by the Koch Network and other wealthy from oil country. Themea urged NH legislators to vote for HB 1479. The bill would have kept staff of DOT, Fish and Wildlife Health & Human Services, educators, town staff and any other government employees from making the case for funding their priorities. It would have made it illegal for most organizations not funded by the wealthy to have their voices heard.

This was not "Liberty" legislation, friends. It was control-by-plutocrats legislation. And despite Themea's urging, the NH House defeated HB 1479 the next week, soundly, bipartisanly 211-129! The following people voted "Nay", meaning they supported this bill put forward by plutocrats to muzzle those who oppose their interests:
