Music Director – Amherst Town Band

The Amherst Town Band, a volunteer community band dedicated to musical quality and entertaining the community, seeks to hire a Music Director. Candidates should have a strong background in instrumental music and large ensemble conducting. In addition to these skills, a passion for community music is a must. Although not required, a music degree is a plus.

The Music Director is responsible for the musical integrity and performance schedule of the band. Along with rehearsals and performance responsibilities, the Director works closely with the executive board on marketing and promoting the band to establish and maintain positive relationships within the community and with other musical organizations.

Weekly rehearsals are held year-round on Tuesdays from 7:30–9:00 PM at Souhegan High School in Amherst, NH. The band has an active seasonal concert schedule, particularly during the summer months. The Music Director conducts all rehearsals and performances. With strong support from the executive board, the Director receives an annual stipend paid quarterly.
