Follow-Up: Amherst Woman Injured In Fiery Crash On Everett Turnpike In Nashua

NASHUA, NH — The New Hampshire State Police are investigating a fiery crash on the Everett Turnpike in Nashua that sent an Amherst woman to the hospital on Thursday.
Around 4 p.m., troopers were sent to the area of Mile Marker 2.6, near Exit 4, for a report of a crash. Witnesses reported to dispatch the vehicle, a 2022 Lincoln Aviator, exited the highway, crashed into an embankment, struck trees, and caught on fire, Amber Lagace, the public information officer for state police, said.
“A group of witnesses stopped at the scene of the crash in an attempt to render aid,” she added, “and were able to successfully remove the injured operator from the vehicle prior to the arrival of first responders.”

The fire spread to several trees and grass on the median, which the Nashua Fire Department extinguished.
Valerie Morelli, 67, of Amherst, was driving the SUV at the time of the crash. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Lagace said.

Northbound lanes were shut down for around two and a half hours. Nashua firefighters, police, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation assisted troopers with the case.
All aspects of this crash remain under investigation, Lagace said.
