Only 269 Sign Up for ACA in NH

Only 269 people in New Hampshire have selected health care plans under the Affordable Care Act.

The figures are contained in a November enrollment report put together by the Department of Health and Human Services looking at the total signups in the first month of the program.

Overall, there have been 4,006 completed applications in New Hampshire and 7,817 total individuals who have applied for coverage in those applications.

Nationally, only slightly more than 100,000 selected plans under the new health care exchange, which has been plagued with problems since it's launch.

Republicans were quick to criticize the Obama administration, saying the problems with the health care law go much deeper than a broken website.

"These anemic enrollment numbers are just the tip of the iceberg," U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte said. "There are underlying structural problems with Obamacare that I’m hearing about every day from New Hampshire residents, including canceled health coverage and higher premiums. The president needs to call a time out on this law so that we can come together on a bipartisan basis to find solutions that allow Americans to have access to the health care they need, from the doctor they want, at a price they can afford."

"The dismal failure of ObamaCare was clearly demonstrated by these incredibly lackluster enrollment figures,” added Greg Moore, Americans for Prosperity–NH state director. "When you couple higher premiums with a network that cuts off 10 hospitals and a website that won’t work, you have the type of ‘debacle’ that these figures show. Moreover, given that the only insurer in the exchange has made it clear that no one has actually enrolled in a plan, it’s obvious that even the tiny number of 269 is inflated.  It’s time to delay this disastrous law and go back to the drawing board for a health care solution that actually works for New Hampshire."
