25,000 Without Power In Southern, Western New Hampshire

Tens of thousands of Eversource customers in Nashua, Amherst, Milford, Merrimack, and surrounding communities are without power.

NASHUA, NH — More than 25,000 electric customers in southern and western New Hampshire are without power after severe thunderstorms swept through the state on Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service issued storm watches and warnings in nine of the state’s 10 counties. Most outages were Eversource customers centered around south and southwestern New Hampshire, around 24,000.

As of 9 p.m., nearly 4,000 customers were out in Milford and Nashua, 2,600 in Amherst, and nearly 2,000 in Hollis. Merrimack and Wilton had around 1,300 without power, while Brookline had 900. The outages in Amherst, Brookline, and Hollis represent nearly 50 percent of customers in each town. Nearly the entire community of Lyndeborough is without power.

There are between 100 and 400 customers without power in Derry, Mont Vernon, Bedford, New Boston, Hooksett, Goffstown, Manchester, and Windham.

Eversource is estimating its restoration time as unknown.

Keene, which had thousands without power during the early part of the storm, still has around 1,700 out.

The New Hampshire Electric Co-op has more than 600 without power mainly in Acworth and Unity, but also Salisbury, Sunapee, and Sutton.

Unitil reports more than 150 without power in Chichester and Webster, as well as Danville, Kingston, Newton, South Hampton, and Stratham.
