GoFundMe Efforts Set Up To Help Victims Of Nashua Apartment Building Fire: Follow-Up

Four fundraising efforts have been established for victims, including 3 to help the son of a woman who perished in Sunday’s fire.

NASHUA, NH — Several fundraising efforts have been set up for tenants on Morgan Street who have lost their homes due to a fire on Sunday.

Firefighters were sent to 24 Morgan St. around 11 p.m. on May 31 in response to a report of a fire. When they arrived, firefighters found heavy fire coming from the second floor of the apartment building. One resident, Stephanie D. Lemay, 46, of Nashua, was found dead on the second floor.

Ten residents were displaced, according to officials.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but it is not considered suspicious at this time.

GoFundMe.com said four fundraisers have been established to help the tenants, including three for Lemay’s son.

Melissa Ayotte set up a fundraiser to offset Lemay’s funeral expenses and to assist her son, Dylan, in getting back on his feet. Nearly $5,000 of the $6,000 goal had been raised.

Erica Ferro also set up a fundraising effort for Dylan with a $9,000 goal.

“On the night of the Nashua fire,” she wrote, “Dylan lost everything. He lost his mother, who was not only his parent but his best friend, biggest supporter, and the person he shared his life with every day. She was his family, his home, and his constant source of love.”

More than $3,600 had been raised.

Colleen Miller has also set up a fundraiser for Dylan and Zabrina to help them rebuild. She said the only reason they were still alive was that they were not home on the third floor at the time of the fire.

“In a single moment,” Miller said, “they lost a mother, pets, possessions, and the place they called home.”

About $1,600 of the $26,000 goal had been raised so far.

Austin Desrochers also set up a fundraiser to assist Diane and Chelsea, who were displaced by the fire. A little more than half the $5,000 goal had been raised.
