Today's riddle: What has a tail, but no body? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Aldermen pass FY2027 budget after split votes on employee raises and spending cuts — Nashua Board of Aldermen, Jun 23, 2026 (meetingwatch.org) — Nashua's Board of Aldermen narrowly approved the FY2027 municipal budget, restoring about $404,000 for pay adjustments to unaffiliated city employees after a contentious debate. Attempts to cut $1 million from Administrative Services and reduce $900,000 for new police body cameras both failed. Residents should watch how these choices influence upcoming tax bills and city services.
2. Nashua NH Teens, Boston And Lowell MA Residents, Injured During Crash On Everett Turnpike In Merrimack (patch.com) — Two Nashua teens were among four people seriously injured in a rollover crash early Sunday on the Everett Turnpike in Merrimack, when a Honda Civic reportedly overcorrected and struck another car. All four victims, including passengers from Boston and Lowell, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and southbound lanes were partially closed during the investigation and cleanup.
3. Manchester man jailed on felony stalking warrant from Nashua (unionleader.com) — Nashua police have obtained a felony stalking warrant against a former city resident now living in Manchester, following allegations he violated a domestic violence order by confronting a former partner at a school bus stop. Manchester police first arrested him on unrelated charges, then held him on a detainer so Nashua detectives, including the Domestic Violence Unit, could pursue the upgraded Class B felony case.
4. Waders on, hands dirty: A day cleaning up the Merrimack (inklink.news) — Volunteers joined the Clean River Project in Nashua to remove tons of trash from an abandoned homeless camp and shoreline along the Merrimack River, a key local drinking water source. Working from steep, debris-filled embankments, they hauled out everything from bedding to tires while confronting needles and contamination. Organizers argue municipalities must better fund long-term river cleanup and debris management.
