What is up with this? Why? As a Hudson resident, I am confused on how this makes sense to the local area. We are already struggling with traffic necking down near the Country Brook garden facility. Bringing additional truck traffic plus the traffic for employees into this area, is extremely concerning.
While I understand that the HLC proposal indicates some traffic mitigation, I don’t see how the town can advance this Friary project without the certainty of the HLC project actually delivering on their promises. In my opinion, until the HLC project is fully developed, the Friary project should be put on hold. HLC will certainly take years to develop, and reflecting on the developers comments, it will take some time after that for the HLC facility to get up to full speed…the accordion being fully open that is. Until the HLC is running at full capacity we will not know if the actions taken are sufficient.
The RAPID development of this southern area of the Hudson is completely alarming. It seems that the town really is looking for tax dollars, not quality of life to the current residents.

Regarding turning traffic, I cannot fathom how the developer plans to control traffic turning right only into the facility. Are trucks not allowed to head north on Lowell Road? Trucks exiting the Sagamore bridge and heading north would naturally want to turn LEFT, across an already congested Lowell Rd to the Friary. Otherwise, where are they going to turn around? I foresee additional traffic delays with no solutions in place. Finally, it seems that the developer has simply piggybacked their “mitigations” onto those mitigations proposed by HLC. If and until the HLC center is developed (and I don’t think HLC is good for the town in any way), traffic can’t seriously be considered until that project is fully functional.
The developer, in my opinion, certainly is trying to pass off this new project based off of the questionable data provided by HLC. This is a mistake, in my opinion. ~Rita Banatwala
