Armed with Knife, Robber Hits Main Street Eatery

Sean Varney took off with cash, police said.

Sean Varney, 25, of 3 Highland Street Apt.3, Nashua, was arrested at about 12:25 a.m. Monday after police say he allegedly robbed the Subway at 291 Main Street at knifepoint.

On March 18 at approximately 9:50 p.m. police were called to the Subway where a white male had just entered the restaurant, armed with a knife, and fled with cash.

The Merrimack Police Department K-9 unit was called to assist with the investigation.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division furthered the investigation and identified Varney as the suspect. He was located and arrested at his residence by Patrol Officers without an assist from the police dog.

A Class A Felony is punishable by up to 15 years in State Prison, exclusive of fines.  Varney is being held on $50,000 cash only bail and he is scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court.
