Ban tag? Why don't we put kids in a bubble?

I work with children under the age of five. I can't tell you how many times recently a child has come up to me crying because another child was mean to them. After I query about bullying or abuse, which is real and always tragic, oftentimes the child offers a less serious complaint. "She doesn't want to be my friend", or "She's not sharing", or "She said she doesn't like me". My response is always the same after a bit of heartfelt empathy, "Then find somebody else to play with."

I find the banning tag episode to be a sign of our times. How ridiculous.
