Why are you seeking elective office?
Responsible management of your tax dollars.
Taxes are your money, you hire your State Rep to spend those dollars wisely and frugally. I successfully ran a business of over 100 employees in a very competitive high tech industry. Those skills are needed in Concord to determine spending priorities without increasing taxes.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Avoiding an income tax and a sales tax.
New Hampshire is facing a $500 million deficit. My Democrat opponents have sponsored a sales tax. This would kill our retail business here in Nashua. When I first ran for State Rep in 2010, we faced an $800 million budget deficit. By setting priorities and reducing unnecessary spending, we created a balanced budget without new taxes. I will do the same again in 2020.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
A track record of voting against and and all tax increases. My opponents propose to raise existing taxes and implement new ones.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
They have failed to support school choice.
I believe the parent knows what's best for their kids, and they should have the choice of the local public school, a charter school, parochial school or home school. And their tax dollars should follow that choice.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform
Energy costs in New Hampshire are among the highest in the country. We have failed to import sufficient amounts of low cost natural gas from Pennsylvania, and clean hydro power from Quebec. Buried pipelines and power lines are desperately needed to cut energy costs.
I am a firearms instructor and a strong supporter of 2nd Amendment rights.
I am pro-life, from conception to natural death.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
A successful career as General Manager of a $10 million high tech company, setting budgets and creating high paying jobs.
The best advice ever shared with me was …
Don't surprise the boss. Make sure he or she hears the news from you first, and preferably in person. Applies to good news as well as bad news.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I serve in Emergency Management, am active in a senior softball league, and enjoy ham radio, where I serve as a dispatcher supporting the Red Cross at events such as the Boston Marathon and Head of the Charles.
