Why are you seeking elective office?
Reduce energy costs, cut taxes, implement school choice, ensure only Nashua legal residents are allowed to vote here.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
School choice. Or kids need to be educated, not indoctrinated. I support state funding that follows the student, an incentive for all schools to improve. Pick the best one.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I believe someone has to be a citizen of Nashua to vote here, my opponents oppose election reform and want to issue driver's licenses to non-citizens.
I believe we need to lower the costs of energy by importing electricity from Canada (Northern Pass) and add new natural gas pipelines from Pennsylvania. My opponents oppose both.
I believe should not subsidize high cost green energy, and that all energy generation should compete on equal terms. My opponents want to charge much higher prices for green energy. Expensive energy is a root cause of the high inflation we are now experiencing.
I believe life is sacred, and abortion should be rare and limited. My opponents favor abortion anytime, including up until the moment of birth. This is barbaric.
I believe in right to work. My opponents insist on mandatory union membership to work in many professions. This limits opportunity for workers.
I favor school choice. My opponents want to restrict the choices parents can make for the education of their kids.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
The current office holders have opposed school choice, want to keep parents from knowing what their kids are being taught at school, voted for higher energy prices that drive inflation, and opposed tax cuts.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
Taxes are your money. Vote for responsible management of your money. Set priorities and don't spend more than you take in. If you show a profit (budget surplus) return the money to to the taxpayers. Don't find ways to waste it.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have experience running a business, managing a budget, and creating good jobs that pay well. In my three terms at the Legislature, I served on the tax law committee (Ways and Means) and have voted to cut taxes and deliver a balanced budget without any tax increases.
The best advice ever shared with me was:
President Ronald Reagan: The government is too big and spends too much.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I campaign by knocking on doors and listening to the concerns of my constituents. Call me anytime at 891-2306. Check out my facebook page BillOhmStateRep and website www.billohm.com for more information.
